On the Move in Moldova!

  • Christian youth clubs involve 35 churches with over 800 teens in attendance. 130 people volunteer their time and energy to make these clubs possible.
    • Over 60 teens have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior as a result of club ministry.
    • Purpose of the New Hope Club Ministry
      • Reach a new generation for Christ
      • Bring new ways to evangelize teens
      • Offer churches resources for youth ministry
      • Build relationships between churches and youth
    • In August 2007 a Club Leadership Training camp was provided to teach young adults how to lead.

  • Camps - 300 teens attended and 178 of them accepted Jesus as their Savior.
  •  Social Department partners with 20 churches and involves the help of 26 families and 530 young people to show the love of Christ to the poor in Moldova.
    • The statistics of this small country are staggering: 11,500 children are orphans, 600,000 people emigrated out of the country in search of jobs, and has the highest amount of human trafficking in all of Europe.
    • Social Department Projects include: providing food bags, outreach through physical labor, transitional housing, and working with the orphanages.
    • Part of the reason the Social Project is so important is because it gets the youth involved in ministry, it builds bridges between the church and the society, they are able to win people to Jesus Christ, and it is a way for the young people to grow spiritually.

Distributing Blankets
  • The Social Project helped to provide and distribute 330 blankets and 300 bed clothes within 7 orphanages, and they were also able to contribute some much-needed repair to four of the orphanages.

  • Drama Ministry’s purpose is to share Christ through their dramas, and also to help churches develop drama ministries so that they too can share Christ this way. We work with 28 churches, 28 drama leaders, and 300 volunteers.
    • In 2007 we participated in the National Drama Festival both in April and October of that year. We held training conferences in July and August, and were also involved in a summer outreach camp where the drama team presented ten skits and served over 300 young people.
    • We visited 3 different schools and minister to 270 young people.
    • Much of our resources come from books that have been translated from English. Plans for 2008 include publishing new drama resources, starting a puppet ministry, getting more involved in the public institutions (schools, kindergartens, and orphanages), and also doing a Christmas outreach in Turkey.

  • School Ministry started up this year in 2008 and is very exciting and has great plans, but will also need much prayer as we seek to enter an environment fraught with hardships.
    • Our activities will include teaching in schools, publishing teaching materials, holding training conferences, concerts, and building relationships with volunteers. So far, their efforts have reached twenty schools and 2,500 students.

In Conclusion, we have had some promising results as students have decided to attend youth clubs, quit smoking, and volunteer their time for various causes. However, we still have much ahead and will constantly have to be battling prejudice and rejection, communistic undertones, and a lack of resources and equipment. The good news is that God has been blessing this ministry as there are already some open doors, dedicated volunteers, and fresh ideas coming in. Keep praying!
